About The Catalyst Training Center

TCTC Background and History

The Catalyst Training Center was established on January 13, 2010 and was a single-person operation for its first full year.  Owner and head coach, Alicia Piz, conducted private and group training sessions in a 700 square foot office space in Kearny Mesa as well as outside at local parks. Her philosophies about soccer development and training techniques brought a rapid growth in clientele.  Then parents and players spread the word about this exciting, new, effective training and Alicia quickly realized that the need for her services was bigger than could be done on a small scale with one coach.  So in the fall of 2010 efforts were coordinated to obtain funding, lay out an extensive business plan, and overall prepare for a massive expansion that would make history.  In February 2011, TCTC began developing the 12,000 square foot warehouse for its current location at 9586 Distribution Ave. Suite E.  After a month of construction and projects the facility was ready to host private training sessions and skills clinics.  Development efforts were carried through March and April until the grand opening tournament on April 30 and May 1, 2011 where TCTC will welcome the community into the completed center.

TCTC Founder and Owner

pizAlicia’s goal is to help soccer athletes achieve their highest level of ability on the field by providing education and training to properly lower the risk for common and debilitating soccer injuries. Alicia’s vision is great – to have TCTC be located in every soccer-popular city in The United States and enhance the way soccer athletes are developed in this country – and San Diego is just the first step.

Drawing on a background of 20+ years playing experience at the state, regional, national, collegiate, and semi-professional levels as well as coaching experiences that range from ball skills to functional sports performance training for beginners through college athletes, Alicia is compelled to give back to the sport that gave her so much.  After enduring six knee surgeries, completing her final collegiate soccer season as team captain at San Diego State University (SDSU), and graduating with a bachelor’s degree in public relations she worked for a website marketing company and started taking classes toward her MBA degree at SDSU.  However, she could not deny her passion for soccer and drive to be an entrepreneur, so at just 23 years old she left school and the job behind to follow her dream of making history in American soccer.

From there – Catalyst was born and Alicia's dream is a living reality!
